Baby Signs® Early Childhood Educator Training

Give your staff practical tools for supporting early communication throughout the day. The Baby Signs® Early Childhood Educator Training introduces early childhood professionals to the Baby Signs® Program and shows them how to incorporate simple signs into everyday routines, play, songs, and interactions with young children.

Participants learn how signing can support communication before and alongside spoken language, help children express their needs and interests, and create more opportunities for meaningful interaction between children and the adults who care for them.

Designed for: Early childhood educators, childcare providers, preschool staff, and other professionals working with infants and toddlers.

Training includes: Interactive instruction, practical examples, Baby Signs® resources, and strategies educators can begin using in their classrooms right away.

Availability: Virginia organizations only

Length: 2-3 hours

LVBF 101: Recognizing Communication Concerns

Early childhood professionals are often among the first to notice when a child’s communication development may need a closer look. LVBF 101: Recognizing Communication Concerns helps professionals understand what to watch for, recognize meaningful patterns over time, and respond appropriately when concerns arise.

Participants learn about key areas of communication development, how to document observations objectively, when a concern may warrant a next step, and how to approach conversations with families respectfully and constructively. Practical examples and real-world early childhood scenarios are incorporated throughout the training.

Designed for: Early childhood educators, childcare providers, preschool staff, and other professionals working with young children.

Training includes: Interactive instruction, practical scenarios and activities, and a take-home resource pack designed to support observation, documentation, family conversations, and next steps.

Availability: In-person training available throughout the central East Coast of the US; other locations available by arrangement.

Length: 1 hour

Practical PD courses for Real-World Settings

LVBF professional development is designed to give early childhood professionals information they can use—not just information they can listen to. Trainings combine evidence-informed content with practical examples, interactive activities, and real-world situations that reflect the everyday experiences of young children and the adults who support them.

Participants leave with practical strategies and resources they can take back to their classrooms and programs and begin using right away.

Trainings are led by Anissa C. Weimer, M.S., CCC-SLP, a speech-language pathologist, former elementary educator, pediatric speech clinic owner, author, and Baby Signs® Independent Certified Instructor in Virginia. Her work focuses on helping the adults in children's everyday lives recognize and support communication development.
